New butterfly valves for drinking water

What is WRAS certification?

The WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) is a certificate of conformity that allows the use of certain industrial elements in public water supply facilities in the UK due to their full compliance with the “Water Fittings Regulations and Scottish Water Byelaws”. The WRAS certificate guarantees that the materials of the installed parts will not generate any type of contamination when they come into contact with drinking water.

How is the WRAS certificate obtained?

To obtain the WRAS certificate, a product must undergo a series of meticulous tests that guarantee that each material present in the piece is suitable to be in contact with drinking water and that it does not waste water . In this way, the government protects public health and ensures efficient use of water.

This certificate is used for any industrial element that will be in contact with water: valves , pipes, accessories, etc. and it has a maximum duration of 5 years . After this period of time, the product will have to be resubmitted for evaluation. Although the WRAS is not a mandatory certificate of attainment, it is the easiest way to legalize a product destined for UK water facilities.
